OVERVIEW
From as early as I can remember, Cricket has been my passion.
From primary school days I would be up before sunrise, excited to get my gear ready to stand on a cricket pitch, in the heat of sunny Cape Town,
playing a sport which I lived for. Beginners Cricket Academy was birthed out of my garage, filming my then 6 year old daughter,
hitting a few balls once a week for 30 minutes. After the 2nd week, I realised that whatever I taught her, she implemented and followed through.
The video was sent to a good friend of mine, just to show him how my daughter had improved,and he, in turn sent it on to a few schools.
BCA started out as a part-time Academy, where coaching only happened on a Saturday for 4 hours.
This soon proved to be too little time, as we had an influx of students.
Exactly one year later, with the counsel of my Spiritual Father, I took on Beginners Cricket Full Time.
There has been an overwhelming response to our Academy. I believe we are here not only to walk a sporting journey,
but more importantly to walk a personal journey with each and every child in our Academy.
We are 4 years old and to date we have 60 students, including an U11 Team, U13 Team, U19 Boys & U19 Girls Teams.
Our youngest cricketer is 3 years old.
Cricket is not just about the sport, it’s about instilling discipline, enhancing concentration levels and developing good gentlemen etiquette,
which assists in academics, and as future leaders and team players. With the coaching of the sport, we find that it is not just coaching the skills,
but also building confidence within the player, as an individual and team player.
Beginners Cricket is a platform to create an environment that fosters the philosophy of expressing individuality
& to create the stars we are building and nurturing through this sports programme.
Our aim & mission is to hone the skills of all young cricketers and create a platform which allows them
the opportunity to grow both on and off the Cricket field.
